Stephen Curry Joins LeBron James and Kevin Durant in the $500 Million Club With a $62.6 Million Contract

It appears that Stephen Curry wants to leave the Warriors. The four-time NBA champion is now committed to the organization through the conclusion of the 2026–2027 season after agreeing to a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension with them. When the guard’s contract ends, he will be 39 years old.

With this new contract, Curry’s salary will surpass $500 million for the first time in his career. After Kevin Durant and LeBron James, he will most likely become the third player to reach that feat.

The Lakers star has made $479.5 million in compensation over the course of his remarkable 21-year career, according to Spotrac.

Earlier this year, he inked a new $101.4 million, two-year contract with the team. The seasoned forward will become the first player in NBA history to earn a salary of $500 million by the conclusion of the next season.

Stephen Curry lags behind LeBron James in money race

In that sense, Durant lags somewhat behind James. In his 16 years in the NBA, the two-time Finals MVP is estimated by Spotrac to have earned a salary of $396.7 million. Over the next two seasons, the Suns forward will make $103.1 million, bringing his career earnings from contracts alone to $499.8 million.

The two-time Finals MVP will either sign a new contract in the summer of 2026 or test free agency. He is still an All-NBA player.

Before his current contract expires or if he leads the Suns to the In-Season Tournament Final once or the semifinals twice, he may reach the $500 million milestone. In any case, the seasoned forward will probably become the second player to receive a salary of half a billion dollars.

James and Durant are the two highest-paid players in NBA history, according to Statista. Spurs guard Chris Paul, who has reportedly made $389.9 million in salaries in his career, is apparently trailing them.

Curry currently has $354.7 million, but by the end of the next season, he will have more than his former Warriors teammate. The four-time NBA champion will receive $55.7 million from the Spurs in 2024–25, while Paul will receive $10.4 million from them.
