The Olympic Games have always been a platform for athletes to showcase their skills, dedication, and sportsmanship. However, it seems that controversy has found its way into the Games once again, this time in the form of Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso. Known for her exceptional talent in the pool, Alonso recently made headlines for a different reason – her daring choice of attire.
Luana Alonso, a star in the world of swimming, found herself in hot water after she was accused of distracting other competitors with her skimpy outfits.
The controversy reached its peak when Alonso was reportedly kicked out of the Olympic Village for violating the code of conduct. The Olympic Games are not only a showcase of athletic talent but also a reflection of the values and ideals of the participating countries. As such, athletes are expected to conduct themselves in a manner befitting the prestige of the Games, both on and off the field.
While some may argue that Alonso’s punishment was harsh and unjust, others point out that as a representative of her country and sport, she should have been more mindful of the image she was projecting.
Well, Alonso has broken her silence over the allegations, and according to her, the reports are all false and misinformation.
Alonso said: ‘I just wanted to clarify that I was never kicked out or expelled from anywhere, please stop spreading false information.
‘I don’t want to make any statement but I’m not going to let lies affect me either,’ Alonso added alongside a photo of her enjoying a drink as the sun set.
And this is what officials also said after kicking her out of the Olympic village.
In a statement announcing Alonso’s departure, Paraguayan Olympic chief Larissa Schaerer said: ‘Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.
‘We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.’
There is more on Luana Alonso being kicked out of the Olympic Village and according to the report;
The stunning 20-year-old blonde, who lost her event on the first day of competition, had been seen walking round in her own choice of outfits rather than the official kit provided by Paraguayan team chiefs.
She has also been spotted socialising with other athletes and was said to be distracting her teammates still competing.
Alonso checked into a hotel in the French capital and visited high end boutiques and restaurants – and posted photos to her 500,000 followers on her social media.
Officials with the Paraguayan Olympic Committee took the decision to banish her from mixing with other team members after being alerted to her behaviour which was said to be causing a ‘distraction’.
The decision to send her packing early is a demonstration of the anger felt by the Paraguayan Olympic Committee and she was told to stay in a hotel rather than her shared accommodation in the athlete’s village where competitors can relax between events.
In a statement announcing her departure Paraguayan Olympic chief Larissa Schaerer said: “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
During her stay in Paris she also fitted in a visit to Euro Disney posing with a pair of Mickey Mouse ears in front of the Magic Kingdom castle.
During a visit of the French capital Alonso stayed at the upmarket Hotel Pastel, close to the Arc de Triomphe, and visited many of the shops and museums that make Paris a popular tourist destination.
She visited France’s premier patisserie, Laduree, posted a photo of its internationally renowned macaroon cakes.
Luana also indulged in some expensive retail therapy at the clothes designer Yves Saint Laurent’s flagship store in the Champs Elysee and across the road to the headquarters of the fashion house Louis Vuitton.
In the end, it is up to each athlete to decide what kind of legacy they want to leave behind – one of controversy and scandal, or one of excellence and inspiration.
