There are usually a few standout plays throughout the preseason, but not many as good as when Patrick Mahomes throws a behind-the-back pass to tight end Travis Kelce.
It appears that Chiefs star Mahomes’ bizarre plays are frequently prepared and not entirely impromptu. But he now disclosed the humorous explanation for why he tried the odd pass in the first place. Mahomes stated:
“Travis didn’t run the route he was supposed to run… I was mad, I was pissed off at Travis…out of spite, I threw a behind-the-back pass,” “But now it’s going to be a highlight.“

You’ll never hear a funnier mid-game preseason interview than that one.
Fans react to Patrick Mahomes’s explanation
Naturally, Mahomes was making a total joke, and no one was taking it too seriously. Many people even joined in on the jokes online. Here are some comments :
“Bro threw a behind the pass out of spite yeah pack it up we’ll try again next year,”
“Let’s be honest Patrick was flexing. And it worked that was so freakin dope lol,”
“They just out here toying with teams at this point, 3peat incoming smh,”
It might already be time to start thinking about next year’s playcalling if Mahomes has any plays along these lines for the regular season.
