After the Super Bowl, Brock Purdy Reveals What He Did

Last season, Brock Purdy was just seconds away from winning the Super Bowl when a touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes and Mecole Hardman in overtime stole the victory from him. Understandably, the quarterback took the loss quite hard.

He discussed the game on the podcast hosted by Ryan Russillo. When questioned about his immediate feelings following the “heartbreaking” defeat in Vegas, he stated that he and his teammates wanted to get out of there as soon as the game was over:

“I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t, no one wanted to stay around. We lost the game and it’s like dang you know so for us we want to get back on the plane and just sort of move on.”

With barely three seconds remaining, the Chiefs scored a game-winning touchdown to terminate the 49ers’ incredible season and win the Super Bowl.

He said that despite putting in a lot of work and performing well the entire season, it was tough to accept the loss:

“You know, like we wanted to process it and everything yes but it was hard to because you just put in all this work over the last many months just to get to that moment and then uh sort of be heartbroken about it.”

With 12 victories and the NFC title in 2023, the club enjoyed a fantastic season, led by Purdy, who set records with 33 touchdowns and 4280 throwing yards.

The 49ers selected Purdy with the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, thinking he would be a third-string quarterback. However, Purdy was called upon after the starting and backup quarterbacks went down with injuries.

With a five-game winning streak and a playoff run, he stunned the world with his play. He was consequently elevated to the position of permanent starting quarterback for the team.
