It should come as no surprise that Taylor Swift played a major role in elevating the Chiefs to the status of one of the most illustrious NFL teams ever. Clark Hunt, the owner of the Chiefs, is incredibly grateful for the singer’s donations, even though the team relishes the extra notoriety she brought them.
It should come as no surprise that owner Clark Hunt acknowledged the KC Chiefs’ enormous rise in popularity among foreign viewers in an interview with KSHB41. Curiously, though, the Chiefs owner gave credit for this accomplishment to CMO Lara Krug and her staff’s combined efforts throughout the years. Clark said,
“Well, there’s no doubt that our fan base has grown significantly over the last several years, not only in the US [and Germany] but internationally and large part of it is because of our efforts of marketing…”
Taylor Swift is credited by Clark Hunt with assisting his team in accessing a previously unexplored demographic of young females.
Clark Hunt talks about Taylor Swift’s impact on Teenagers
It was nearly hard to get teenage ladies and women in general to watch American football before the “Bad Blood” hitmaker’s relationship with Travis. However, in just a few weeks, the pop sensation accomplished the seemingly unthinkable, turning the league into a family-only event. In light of this, the Chiefs owner greeted all of the Swifties to the Chiefs Kingdom and publicly acknowledged Swift for her influence.
“Taylor Swift’s effect on the team last year was a total surprise to us. We do have a lot more female and particularly young female fans than we have had in the past. We welcome all to the Chiefs Kingdom and we thank Taylor for that.”
The NFL has consistently been portrayed in commercials over the years as a family tradition. But because of Taylor Swift, the games have never been more inclusive than they are now. It is understandable that the Chiefs Kingdom takes pride in this, thus it is not surprising that they would brag about it in public.
