Joel Embiid has agreed to a huge contract deal, meaning he will play for the Philadelphia 76ers for the foreseeable future. The 30-year-old center is expected to ink a three-year, $193 million contract that will officially end any speculation about his leaving and reinforce his devotion to the team, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
With two years and $110 million remaining on his current contract, Embiid also has a player option for the 2026–2027 campaign. The MVP winner will continue to be the 76ers’ mainstay thanks to this deal. The action reaffirms Philadelphia’s goal to center the team around Embiid, a player who has come to represent the team.
With an average of more than 30 points per game in the 2023–24 season, Embiid’s domination on both ends of the court earned him his first MVP title. The 76ers’ faith in Embiid’s leadership is demonstrated by this extension.

Together with Embiid and young talent Tyrese Maxey, George’s experience and scoring prowess elevates the 76ers to a legitimate contender. Philadelphia is trying to get better in the postseason after losing to the New York Knicks in six games during the first round of the playoffs.
With Embiid, George, and Maxey on board and head coach Nick Nurse in charge, the 76ers have the potential to become one of the best teams in the East.
