After her husband, Jonathan Owens, scored a touchdown in the Bears’ season opener on Sunday, Simone Biles received a special shout-out from the TV announcer, who gave the Chicago safety a suitable nickname throughout the show.
The Bears‘ Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field included a spectacular play in which Owens scooped the ball and scored a touchdown after Daniel Hardy blocked a punt attempt.

Referring to Owens as “Mr. Biles”—a reference to his Olympic gymnastics G.O.A.T. wife—Adam Amin called the action. Although Amin didn’t mean any damage when he made the joke, some trolls turned the moniker against him when he appeared on the “Pivot” podcast the previous year and said he didn’t know who Biles was before they started dating.
During the interview, he also claimed to be “the prize” in their partnership, which further agitated the situation.
Following the outcry, Simone defended her husband against the criticism and urged others to refrain from referring to him as “Mr. Biles” in an offensive way. Biles stated,
“Y’all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship & my husband,” “So I’m gonna go ahead and say this one time. Respectfully, f*** off. & if you keep commenting or tweeting at me I’m just going to block you. Simple as that.”
On Sunday, Biles was in a much better mood. She claimed that Owens’ score nearly gave her a heart attack while reacting live on social media to his incredible performance.
