Kevin Durant Closes Out Discussion About His “Peak Version”

Kevin Durant is 35 years old, and while he is getting older, his skill set on the court is still practically unbeatable. The perfect example of an easy-to-use scoring machine is the Slim Reaper. The subject of which KD version was his best has long been debated. When the two-time NBA champion appeared on the Boardroom podcast, he addressed the matter.

When it came to his prime or peak in the NBA, Durant was questioned. The Texas college student followed through on his MVP campaign.

KD was still with the Oklahoma City Thunder during that time. And in the 2013–14 NBA season, Durant finally had the opportunity to win the Most Valuable Player award after being second in the MVP voting in the previous two years.

Durant concluded that season averaging 32.0 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 5.5 APG, according to BasketballReference. That season, he participated in 81 games overall and missed just one regular-season game.

KD has always been a scorer with the ability to find his area and finish shots quickly. But Durant’s shooting attempts witnessed a significant uptick from the field and beyond the arc during that MVP season. His impact on defense went unnoticed at the time because he was handling the most of his team’s offensive. Nevertheless, it appeared that KD’s best line of defense was to just outscore his opponent, and he was successful in doing so.

Alongside Durant during his 2014–15 Thunder season was a prime Russell Westbrook. Sadly, Westbrook suffered an injury that prevented him from participating in more than 46 games that season.

Taking matters into his own hands, Durantula gave a once-in-a-lifetime performance. In addition to being named MVP, he guided the Thunder to the second-best position in the Western Conference. Even though he suffered a season-ending injury the next season, Durant has maintained his averages in the upper 20s ever since. It’s possible to argue that any of the upcoming seasons could be his best because his scoring production hasn’t dropped below 25 points per game.
