Paul George joined the Los Angeles Clippers with great expectations of winning an NBA title with the group. But after the previous season, things deteriorated and he left the Clippers as a result of a strained relationship.
Paul George Sr., George’s father, also voiced his displeasure with the Clippers’ handling of the circumstance. This week, during an appearance on “Podcast P,” George Sr. expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s choice about his son. He said,
“I thought Paul did a whole lot for the team. I think he gave them 110%, and what he was asking, it wasn’t a whole lot. But they saw something different. I was looking at going nextdoor [to the Lakers], but they already spent too much money,” “So he felt that that was a bunch of bull that they came at him with. And I wasn’t gonna sugarcoat it either. Yeah, I’m behind you 100%. If you’ve got to leave, we’re gonna leave,” “He had a good reason to throw the towel in. He could have stopped. When that happened, I was like, ‘Uh, he might have to look into doing something else now. He doesn’t take no for an answer; he doesn’t let nothing get in his way. He is not giving up,”
George reportedly wanted to sign a max contract to remain a Clipper. Like Kawhi Leonard, he was hoping for a contract at the very least. Then, george decided to leave the Clippers and go with the Philadelphia 76ers because, regrettably, they refused to budge to his demands.
Paul George sustained a terrible leg injury in 2014 while competing for the Indiana Pacers. He suffered from an open fracture of the fibula and tibia. He missed almost the whole 2014–15 NBA season due to the severity of the injury. Many, including Paul George Sr., George’s father, questioned at the time if George would ever play again.
George is currently getting ready for his 14th NBA season with the 76ers following a turbulent time with the Clippers. It remains to be seen if George can recover and contribute to the Sixers.
