During the ManningCast, NFL legend Peyton Manning displayed his competitive side. Alongside his brother Eli, the NFL Hall of Famer co-commented on Monday night’s San Francisco 49ers 32-19 victory over the New York Jets.
Eight-time Super Bowl champion coach Bill Belichick joined them in the first half, and by the end of the second quarter, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy had the entire group on the edge of their seats.
With less than 20 seconds remaining on a second and 10, and the Niners leading 13–7, Purdy tore into wideout Brandon Aiyuk in the back corner of the end zone.
Peyton Manning goes hard on Brandon Aiyuk
Aiyuk, who stayed out of training camp in pursuit of a new contract, let it slip through his hands even though the throw was precise. Eli was understanding, stating that Aiyuk was “a little rusty,” but Peyton wasn’t exactly on the same page. Peyton said :
“Get signed. Get in training camp. There’s a reason for training camp,” “You need it. We need the reps. Get those contracts done earlier so he can get in training camp [so] we don’t drop balls on opening night.” “You’re still catching balls at a high school field from some quarterback that’s 45 years old, my age,” “You’re not catching balls from your quarterback. Get signed, get in camp, and we don’t drop the ball.”
Once more, Eli maintained his composure and calmness while outlining the distinctions between training individually and as a team. Peyton, on the other hand, was still agitated.
