Diddy was taken into custody on Monday, an individual familiar with the case said. A spokesman said that he was taken into custody in the foyer of a hotel located in New York City. In a statement, Marc Agnifilo, Diddy’s lawyer, said:
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.” “Diddy is an imperfect person but Is not criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts.
“These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court,”
Diddy’s arrest leaves a lot of questions open
The rapper-turned-music mogul was detained, though it was not immediately clear for what reason. However, he is the target of numerous lawsuits alleging sexual assault, and a federal probe is still on. When federal officials executed search warrants at his houses in Miami and Los Angeles in March, the federal inquiry was made public.
A source familiar with the investigation told NBC News in March that investigators spoke with a number of persons regarding claims of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and the soliciting and distribution of illegal drugs and weapons.
The Southern District of New York issued the warrant for the search of Combs’ residences.
