In the middle of a YouTube video, Dwight Howard traveled to Manny Pacquaio’s home in the Philippines. The NBA icon and the former boxer engaged in chess play and wide-ranging conversation during their stay. Following Pacquaio’s comment that the Boston Celtics were a formidable team, Howard elaborated on the team’s strength in having three deserving MVP candidates.
Considering that PacMan also played professional basketball, his knowledge of the NBA is hardly shocking. Howard felt compelled to clarify, though, just how deadly the Celtics have been.
Dwight Howard’s 3 picks for MVP
The former NBA player accomplished this by disclosing that Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Jrue Holiday were three players on Joe Mazzulla’s team deserving of a shot at the Most Valuable Player title. Howard stated: “They really got three guys that could have won MVP – Tatum and Brown but I like Jrue Holiday,”
Howard was deeply pleased by Holiday’s defensive efforts. “Superman,” who has won three DPOY awards, continued to praise the two-way standout above Tatum and Brown, the All-NBA team.
In conclusion, Howard said: “It’s his (Holiday) defense… I trained with him a little bit before in LA and so they do a lot of drills… so that’s why his defense is like that cause they just drill all day different scenarios of defense and he stops everybody,”
Holiday did show up as a strong contender for the MVP award in the 2024 Finals. Holiday’s performances in the series against the Mavericks—14.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and a 109.8 defensive rating—have undoubtedly catapulted him into MVP debates, even though Brown did end up taking home the coveted award.
