After Justin Jefferson Tried to Pull off One of Patrick Mahomes’ Trick Plays, He Got Trolled

Sunday’s Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Jets game marked the start of Week 5. Though his warmup performance didn’t measure up to the expectations, Justin Jefferson was predicted to be one of the matchup’s key attractions in London. Internet users reacted in a variety of ways as the wide receiver tried one of Patrick Mahomes’ trick plays.

A move that is synonymous with the Kansas City Chiefs‘ signal-caller, the 25-year-old wide receiver tried a behind-the-back pass prior to the game. With one hand, the wide receiver caught the ball and threw it back without shifting his position. The pigskin staggered onto the turf, though, as the pass failed.

The NFL’s official Instagram account shared the incomplete pass video with the description, “taking the one-handed catch global.” But fans jumped on the trolling bandwagon right once, and they had a great time in the comments!

The one-handed catch amazed Vikings supporters, but the subsequent throw did not thrill them as much. For example, one fan suggested Jefferson should throw the ball normally, joking that the ball boy would now have to put in more effort (even before the game).

However, this online user noted that one-handed catches of this kind are not new. During his time with the Rams, Odell Beckham Jr. even performed an execution. They wrote:  “Odell already did this when he played the rams

Notably, during this preseason game against the Detroit Lions at Arrowhead Stadium, we were able to watch “Magic” Mahomes execute his perfected version of the behind-the-back throw.

According to ESPN, the quarterback had revealed that Andy Reid had given his OK for the maneuver during practice, provided he could execute it. Thus, he gave the league another innovative move. That being stated, everyone is excited to see Jefferson’s game against Sauce Gardner while the Vikings strive to keep their perfect 4-0 record.
