Eddie Gonzalez Impressed by JJ Redick’s Banter With Media

Eddie Gonzalez has been a producer and broadcaster of a number of podcasts in recent years, including as “The ETCs with Kevin Durant” on Boardroom and “Run It Back” on FanDuel. He is well-known on the internet for his quick wits, and he just saw the same clarity in JJ Redick, the new head coach of Los Angeles.

Gonzalez reshared a video of Redick deftly responding to a leading question from the media on his X account, stating, “Can’t outpod a podder.”

JJ Redick’s banter praised

The skills he acquired during his time in the media have not been forgotten by the Lakers’ new head coach. A reporter was asking JJ Redick about his starting forward, Rui Hachimura, in the video that Gonzalez posted.  “Do you think he [Rui] can take that next step with you guys?

“How do we proceed next?” Redick retaliated. JJ criticized the reporter’s strategy when he joked, “You tell me.” He answered :

You tell me. You’re creating a narrative, you tell me. What is his next step? I don’t care about what the next step for Rui is, I care about how he impacts winning on our team,”

JJ Redick began working at ESPN after he retired from basketball, and his regular appearances on “First Take” helped him become extremely popular. The Old Man and the Three, which he later presented, swiftly rose to prominence as one of the most popular basketball podcasts.

Before turning to teaching, Redick solidified his position as a leading authority in internet sports analytics with “Mind the Game,” which he co-wrote with LeBron James. When he responds to inquiries about the Lakers, it appears that all of this media exposure is helping.
