The Trail Blazers and Wizards traded Malcolm Brogdon and the 14th overall pick to Portland on the first day of the NBA Draft this year, sending Deni Avdija to Portland. Along with two second-round selections and the second most favorable of the Trail Blazers’ 2029 first-round picks, Washington was also selected.
During the Wizards media day, Brogdon revealed that he is experiencing a “full-circle moment” as a result of the deal that has brought him to Washington. Brogdon said : “I feel like I’m coming back home,”. “This is like a full-circle moment for me to be able to play for the Wizards. It’s a team I’ve always wanted to put the jersey on for.”

This season, Brogdon averaged 15.7 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds for Portland. He was named the Sixth Man of the Year with the Celtics in 2022–2023. In addition, he made 41.2 percent of the 5.1 three-pointers he tried. Unfortunately, he played in just 39 games—25 of which were starts—due to right elbow tendonitis.
Although Brogdon is eager to start his Wizards career, it could not last long. With a $22.5 million deal that is about to expire, the veteran guard who is well-known for his offensive efficiency should draw interest from a number of teams looking to sign him.
