Patrick Mahomes Talks About Collision With Rashee Rice

During a game against the Chargers, quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs recently expressed contrition for an unintentional contact with wide receiver Rashee Rice. After making an interception and trying to make a tackle, Mahomes accidentally collided with Rice, twisting his knee in what appeared to be a major injury.

In a news conference, Mahomes discussed the incident and said that he was preoccupied with getting the ball back and wasn’t aware that he had collided with his teammate. Mahomes said : “I didn’t notice it in the moment,” , “but when I saw the replay, I felt like s**t that I hit Rashee.”

The Chiefs management first suspected an ACL tear, fearing the worse. Rice was taken off the field after a stellar first three weeks of the season, which included 24 receptions and 288 yards. Rice has already been placed on injured reserve by the team, but official testing are still waiting because of knee swelling.

The Chiefs’ offense has suffered in absence of Rashee Rice

The Chiefs’ passing offense has suffered a serious setback with Rashee Rice’s departure. Early in the season, the rookie wide out contributed two touchdowns, solidifying his place in Mahomes’ offensive toolbox. The Chiefs will have to rely more on senior players like tight end Travis Kelce and rookie receiver Xavier Worthy, as well as Justin Watson, Skyy Moore, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, since Rice will be out for at least four games.

Despite acknowledging the difficulty, Mahomes said he was confident in the depth of the team. Mahomes said : “Obviously, Rashee is a huge part of the game plan,”. “But Coach Reid does a great job getting guys ready to go throughout the week, and we had an extra day to prepare this time.”

Mahomes is still focused on leading the offense and adjusting to Rice’s absence as the Chiefs go forward. The team is committed to keeping up its winning streak in spite of the setback, and Mahomes is confident that the remaining players can step up and cover for Rice’s injury. For the time being, everyone is focused on Rashee Rice’s recuperation, and teammates and supporters are praying for a speedy comeback.
