Steve Kerr ‘Saves’ Draymond Green From Another 1st-Game Penalty

In keeping with their impressive preseason play, the Warriors started the season with a decisive victory over the Portland Trail Blazers. One event made several viewers uneasy, even though the team’s offense appeared to be well-coordinated and sharp.

In keeping with his fierce reputation, Draymond Green was given his first technical foul of the season during the first game. In an effort to prevent a recurrence of the difficulties from the previous season, head coach Steve Kerr fortunately intervened before things got out of hand.

Then, in the second quarter, Green was called for a foul while he was scurrying for a lost ball against Deni Avdija. Even when the opposing side lined up for free throws, Green continued to express his displeasure with the decision, even though the officials first ignored it. His constant grumbling finally resulted in a technical foul.

Kerr’s response to Draymond Green’s argument

After Green’s heated argument, Kerr promptly called a timeout to diffuse the situation and keep him from confronting the officials any more. Green would have been eliminated early from the game if he had received a second technical, but this prompt intervention prevented that from happening.

The Warriors began the season with a victory and avoided needless controversy on opening night because to Kerr’s prompt response, which kept Green on the court and helped them maintain concentration. Kerr said : “I mean, you’ve been watching us for a long time,”

“So, Draymond’s gonna get plenty of technicals. As long he doesn’t get the second one, we’re fine.

“You can’t have it all. You can’t ask Draymond to play with this amazing passion and energy and effort and tell him ‘No. No. You have to tone down the emotion.’ It’s all part of the package. There’s gonna be a lot of technicals, we just can’t let him get two.”
