Karl-Anthony Towns‘ career with the New York Knicks is off to a slow start. In three games thus far, he has only attempted 9.3 field goals per game, which is insignificant compared to his career average of 16. Gilbert Arenas discussed the circumstances. He expressed his displeasure with Tom Thibodeau, the head coach of the Knicks, for failing to adapt to KAT’s style of play.
The three-time All-Star noted on Gil’s Arena that the Knicks have been accustomed to playing without a center who can hit a lot of shots. Knicks centers like Isaiah Hartenstein and Mitchell Robinson have been neglected in offensive tactics in recent years.
The Knicks rotate the ball from guard to forward, but they aren’t used to passing it to a shooter with a lot of volume like KAT. Coach Thibs’ offensive scheme is therefore insufficient to get the most out of Towns. According to Gilbert Arenas : “You didn’t pass the five-man the ball in the last how many years? It’s been guards. So you don’t really have any plays for this man[Towns] at the Five. So the fact that he’s playing a Five and can’t see the ball, that’s just your offense itself.”

Instead of using the same coaching strategies he has employed for the last four years with the Knicks, Arenas believes Thibodeau could manage the issue more effectively. Arenas also bemoaned the fact that traditional coaches, such as Thibodeau, are frequently too careless and incapable of teaching young players how to locate open looks.
He therefore held the Knicks head coach accountable for Towns’ complete lack of participation in the offense.
