Patrick Mahomes and DeAndre Hopkins on Fire as Chiefs Look Unbeatable

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-24 in overtime on Monday night, demonstrating the return on their recent investment in DeAndre Hopkins. After a late 10-play, 71-yard drive knotted the score, the Buccaneers, led by Baker Mayfield, fought hard and forced overtime.

With one of his greatest performances of the season, Mayfield kept the Buccaneers competitive when facing the Chiefs’ potent offense. In spite of this, the Chiefs won the game thanks to a strong overtime drive spearheaded by Patrick Mahomes and ended with Kareem Hunt’s game-winning two-yard score.

After Carson Wentz momentarily filled in, Mahomes returned to the field following a brief injury scare in the fourth quarter due to an ankle issue. Mahomes stated: “I kind of awkwardly rolled the ankle a little bit. Definitely scary, I think I hurt it more cause it’s the same ankle I rolled last week,”. “Once I kind of took my breath and kind of calmed down a little bit, it ended up being not too bad.”

Hopkins, who just joined the Chiefs a few weeks ago, was particularly impressive, hauling in eight passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns. His effort demonstrated Kansas City’s offensive prowess, as did Hunt’s 106 rushing yards.
