Rashad McCants’ Says Russell Westbrook is Greatest Point Guard of All Time

Regarding Russell Westbrook of the Denver Nuggets, Rashad McCants made a daring claim. Following an outstanding performance against the Memphis Grizzlies, Russell Westbrook is in high spirits. The nine-time NBA All-Star shot 5/12 from the field and finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, 14 assists, two steals, and one block as the Nuggets won 122-110.

Rashad McCants, a former NBA player, made an interesting comment about the future Hall of Famer after the game (via Gil’s Arena).

McCants: “Russell Westbrook is the greatest point guard of all time. Statistically… Statistically it’s no debate about it.”

Nevertheless, McCants discussed how, from an ability perspective, Magic Johnson, Steph Curry, and others might have a case.

Russell Westbrook’s brilliant career

In 1,175 games, Westbrook has averaged 21.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He has also shot 30.1% from three-point range and 43.8% from the field.

The 36-year-old helped the Oklahoma City Thunder make it to the 2012 NBA Finals and was named the 2017 MVP. But his most notable accomplishment is that he averaged a triple-double in four distinct seasons (2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021).

Westbrook played for the Clippers, Lakers, Rockets, and Wizards in addition to Denver and Oklahoma City. In the 2005 NBA Draft, McCants was selected as the fourteenth overall pick.

In 249 games for Wolves and Kings, he shot 43.1% from the field and 36.8% from three-point range, averaging 10.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
