Debbie Nelson, Eminem’s Mother, Died at Age 69

Debbie Nelson, Eminem’s mother, lost her fight with severe lung cancer. Lung cancer claimed Debbie’s life. She passed away in St. Joseph, Missouri, last night. When Debbie’s condition was initially made public in September, it was reported that she would not have much time left to live.

It is well known that Eminem and his mother had a tumultuous and dysfunctional relationship. Early in his career, he openly accused her of being abusive and inattentive, frequently revealing their private problems in stinging songs like “Cleanin’ Out My Closet.”

Their relationship was further strained in 1999 when Debbie filed a slander lawsuit against him. In 2007, she also authored an honest memoir titled “My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem.”

However, the two have tried to get back together over time. Eminem’s 2013 song “Headlights” was a watershed, as he apologized for their tense relationship and said he regretted his harsh remarks.

In recent years, their sporadic relationship has grown stronger, and Debbie congratulated Eminem on being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

Her age was 69.
