A man who found the rapper’s Grammy prize in a storage locker allegedly demanded $50,000 to return it, according to Roddy Ricch. YouTuber Prieto Hunter began it all on Friday, November 29, when he uploaded a video of himself unpacking stuff from a $280 storage unit he had purchased.
Hunter pointed out a few things in the unit before opening a black Tumi suitcase, including Roddy Ricch’s 2019 Grammy for Best Rap Performance for “Racks In The Middle” alongside Nipsey Hussle and Mustard. If Ricch wanted it back, he first said he could “work something out” with his team. Then things started to go to the left.
Hunter stated in a video he uploaded on Monday, December 2, that after getting in touch with Roddy Ricch’s team, he intended to offer the rapper his back for free. He claimed that although he didn’t ask the artist for cash, he sought to record their conversation on tape. Hunter said that after receiving “threats” that included texts with his social security number and pictures of his house, the situation became a “nightmare” for him and his family.
Roddy Ricch rubbishes Hunter’s claims and says he’s getting extorted
It was not long before Roddy Ricch addressed Hunter’s charges. To give his perspective and explain how the things in the storage unit ended up there in the first place, he went live on Instagram.
Ricch clarified that he recently moved and left a few things in the apartment. After he had an accident, the unit was “mishandled” and his aide was supposed to take the stuff out and handle it. Ricch’s crew contacted Hunter as soon as he learned about the Grammy and made an effort to retrieve it. Hunter allegedly retaliated by demanding $50,000 and an Audemars Piguet watch in exchange for the $10,000 he had initially offered for the prize back.
Roddy grinned as he said: “First he asked me for an AP,”. “Then he asked for $50,000. So it was never about ‘Oh we’re going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you’ and all that type of s**t. It was more so about a n***a trying to get some clout off it or a n***a trying to basically extort me for $50,000.”

There was nothing else to think about, according to Roddy, but Hunter advised him to sleep on it. The 26-year-old talked about how the award meant a lot to his family, community, and himself.
