Johnny Newton woke up on Tuesday morning feeling a little lighter in his pocket. It turns out that his Washington Commanders teammates decided to slap him with a massive dinner bill, and needless to say, he was not happy about it.
The team gathered at a fancy restaurant for a celebratory end-of-season meal on Monday night. The players documented their extravagant evening on the socials, showing off expensive drinks and delicious food. There was no shortage of top-shelf booze and pricey cuts of meat.
When it came time to settle the bill, it amounted to a whopping $9,547.54. Imagine Johnny Newton’s surprise when he was informed that he would have to contribute to this exorbitant expense. In a video posted by fellow teammate Phidarian Mathis, you can hear Newton expressing his frustration with a loud “f*** outta here” as he reluctantly dug into his pockets.
But it seems Newton wasn’t the only one who had to pitch in. Another Instagram post by Daron Payne suggests that other teammates had to foot part of the bill as well. So, while it’s understandable that Newton wasn’t thrilled about the situation, we can’t feel too sorry for him. After all, he did sign a lucrative four-year contract worth $9,757,990 this year. So, he certainly has the means to cover the cost.
Hopefully, this hefty dinner bill doesn’t cause any lingering tension among the Commanders’ teammates. It’s safe to say that next time they decide to celebrate, they might want to consider a more budget-friendly option or at least split the bill evenly. Lesson learned, guys!
