In a recent Instagram post, Drake addressed Kendrick Lamar‘s Super Bowl halftime performance. On Sunday night, Kendrick, 37, stunned fans by performing his notorious Drake diss hit at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
Drake posted a few pictures of himself in front of thousands of admirers. His Instagram caption for the numerous photos read, “$$$inema.” A picture of his enormous OVO owl chain, which has more than 100 carats of Asscher cut diamonds.
Jason Arasheben created the necklace, which stands for his record label. OVO, called after Drake’s birth month, is an acronym for “October’s Very Own.”
When Kendrick wore a “a” chain during his Super Bowl performance, fans interpreted it as a reference to his Not Like Us lyric “A minor.” This appeared to be the direct answer to the image of his trademark chain.
‘Drake put his friends on a Super Bowl ban and did not tune into the show,’ an insider told DailyMail.com. ‘He was not able to stop Not Like Us from being played and wasn’t happy about it.
‘He knows it resonated with Kendrick’s target audience who have basically exiled him.
‘But he is happy that people weren’t impressed by Kendrick’s performance and is feeling better about his chances of a comeback – even if he does feel that he has lost some of his core fans.’
Fans blasted the show on social media, with one writing: ‘Worst halftime show ever not a fan.’
Drake made a statement about unknown ex-boyfriends at a concert in Australia on Sunday, just hours before Kendrick took the stage at the Super Bowl. He told the crowd:
“If you ever in your life gave your time, gave your energy, gave your money, gave your heart, gave your soul, gave everything you ever had to somebody and they f**king played with you and wasted your time, wasted your energy, wasted your money? I want you all to turn up to this song!”
“This is to all of your exes that thought they could play you in their f**king life.
“If you’re doing better than your ex, I want to see you turn the f**k up!”
Hours later, during his halftime act, Kendrick invited SZA and Serena Williams, Drake’s ex-girlfriends, to the stage.
