Suspect Found in California Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi’s Stabbing Death: Her Wife!

A suspect in the murder of Rebecca Marodi, a cherished fire captain in Ramona, California, has been identified by authorities.

The suspect is Yolanda Marodi, 53, also known as Yolanda Olejniczak, according to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office. She weighs about 166 pounds, is 5 feet 2 inches tall, and has brown hair. The police report states that the suspect’s “present location is unknown.”

According to San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Mike Krugh, who spoke to PEOPLE on behalf of his family, Yolanda and Rebecca had been wed for roughly two years.

“Killing who we believe was her husband at the time,” Krugh added, was another manslaughter conviction Yolanda had already served.

The S.D. Sheriff’s Office stated that it was working “diligently to gather more information and establish a comprehensive understanding of the case,” even if more motivations and circumstances are still being ascertained.

According to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, on the evening of February 17, deputies responded to a call for an assault with a deadly weapon and discovered 49-year-old Marodi, a captain with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), at her home in Ramona with multiple stab wounds.

First responders tried to save Marodi’s life, but she was declared dead at the site.
