A Helicopter Crashes in Into the Hudson River As All 6 Onboard Declared Dead

The horrific event was captured on camera as a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River on Thursday after plummeting from the skies over New York City.

There have been multiple reports of fatalities from local sources. Several horrified witnesses captured the helicopter on camera; part of it is visible at the water’s surface, while the remainder seems to be underwater.

Police say the chopper crashed just after 3 PM local time, close to Pier 40 in Hudson River Park, but closer to the New Jersey side of the river. A “loud thumping noise” was allegedly heard by witnesses at the moment of the collision.

Initial reports state that emergency boats arrived at the scene of the collision right away. According to local news sources, the pilot, two other adults, and three children were among the six individuals on board that perished. According to ABC7 New York, the travelers were a Spanish family.

The cause of the collision is still unknown.
