After the Gators’ NCAA Championship Victory, a Florida Fan Falls From a Traffic Signal

As fans crowded the road to celebrate the University of Florida Gators‘ title on Monday night, a fan fell from the top of a traffic signal pole. A fan can be seen scaling the pole at University Avenue and Buckman Drive/17th Street in the video of the audacious feat.

He bounces up and down on the pole, tries to stand, and suddenly collapses in front of onlookers.

After the fall, the daredevil appeared to be okay, according to a fan who witnessed the performance and called WCJB. His injuries, according to fire rescue personnel, weren’t life-threatening.

Before Monday’s game, Gainesville Public Works staff lubricated traffic light poles to discourage spectators from scaling them. This year’s March Madness ended Monday night with the University of Florida winning the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball championship game.
