In Romania, actor Jean-Claude Van Damme is the subject of a criminal lawsuit for allegedly having sex with women who were trafficked.
CNN affiliate Antena 3 claims that the 64-year-old Street Fighter star accepted five Romanian women as a “gift” from a criminal organization headed by Morel Bolea.
The Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) has received a complaint from Romanian authorities, who claim the 64-year-old knew the women were being trafficked. According to reports, the alleged incident happened at an event that Van Damme organized in Cannes, France.
DIICOT opened an investigation after one of the ladies later testified. Following Andrew and Tristan Tate’s arrest on sex trafficking charges in 2022 and their subsequent departure from Romania, this is the second well-known case from Romania.
Belgian martial artist, actor, and director Jean-Claude Van Damme is well renowned for his action movies, including Universal Soldier (1992), Kickboxer (1989), and Bloodsport (1988). He was born in Belgium in 1960 and trained in kickboxing and karate before relocating to Hollywood in the 1980s.
