JJ Redick Discusses His Heated Timeout Against Minnesota

In addition to addressing his heated third-quarter timeout, Lakers head coach JJ Redick stressed that increased aggression was the key to the team’s victory in Game 2, stating it was just about getting everyone back on the same page.

Luka Doncic led the Los Angeles Lakers to a hard-fought 94-85 victory at home in Game 2 of their first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Doncic finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists, one assist short of a triple-double.

JJ Redick opens up on his Timeout

Lakers head coach JJ Redick stressed after the game that the team’s increased physicality, which he believed was absent in Game 1, was a key component of the win.

Redick stated: “We were very physical tonight, as were they,” “I think the playoffs require a different level, and like I’d said pregame, it took us about two and a half quarters in Game 1 to get to that level of physicality,”

He was also recorded shouting, “What the f*ck are you guys doing?” during a heated timeout in the third quarter that went viral online. He clarified that the team needed to refocus more than it was frustrated.

Redick pointed out: “I’ve done that in a game a handful of times—in six preseason games, 82 regular season—it was at 90 games. I’ve done it a handful of times,” “It’s not something I want to do,” “It’s not something I’m more than comfortable doing. But I think tonight, it was just about flipping that urgency switch back on.”
