After a night out at a rooftop club in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood, police claim a 23-year-old woman drugged a guy inside his hotel room and took his $18,000 Rolex watch. She is now facing various felony charges.
According to an arrest record, Rachel Marie Warner of Las Vegas was taken into custody Thursday during an undercover operation and charged with grand theft, possession of a controlled narcotic, and burglary with assault or battery.
The victim informed police that he met an unidentified woman outside the valet area of the East Hotel in Brickell, where the assault started.
According to authorities, the woman, who is now known as Warner, escorted the man to his hotel room after they had drinks together at the hotel’s Sugar rooftop bar.
They reportedly entered the room at approximately 11:27 p.m. on Wednesday, according to surveillance footage.
The arrest report states that the victim claimed that after Warner gave him a drink, he went into a blackout and was unable to remember anything until he woke up by himself a few hours later. According to the complaint, his phone was locked and unreachable, and his Rolex was gone.
At around 3:27 a.m. on Thursday, Warner is seen on camera exiting the hotel by himself. The plan, according to the police, is consistent with the trend of “bad date” crimes, in which women target men who are wearing pricey jewelry, give them drugs, and take valuables.
