Due to His Alleged Affair With a Man’s Wife, Former NFL Player Steve Smith Is Being Sued Under “Homewrecker Law”

The story of Steve Smith has advanced. Anthony Martinez has sued Smith, the former NFL player, alleging that he had a months-long affair with his wife, Nicole.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Martinez is suing Smith for more than $100,000 in a civil case in the Mecklenburg County Superior Court in North Carolina.

Under North Carolina’s “homewrecker law,” which permits a spouse to sue someone who obstructs and destroys a marriage’s love and passion, the complaint was filed on Tuesday. Throughout the lawsuit, Martinez will need to demonstrate that his marriage was characterized by true affection.

Six states in the nation permit lawsuits under the “homewrecker law,” including North Carolina. When screenshots of the five-time Pro Bowl player and Martinez’s wife were shared on social media via an account with Anthony’s name in February, the accusations against the 45-year-old Smith were first made public.

Since then, the screenshots that were uploaded on X have been removed. Martinez tried to confront Smith about the obscene messages by calling him as well. According to the lawsuit, Smith and Martinez’s wife first connected at her work with the Baltimore Ravens marching band. In September, the NFL Network analyst joined the band to record an episode for “The NFL’s Most Interesting Jobs with Steve Smith.”
