Get this – a Canadian politician, Jagmeet Singh, got majorly roasted by Drake for attending a Kendrick Lamar and SZA concert in Toronto. And when I say roasted, I mean Drake straight up called him a ‘goof’!
Now, I don’t know about you, but I think it’s pretty hilarious when politicians get caught up in pop culture drama. I mean, who knew our lawmakers were such big music fans? But hey, at least this guy has good taste in concerts!
On Sunday night, after images of Singh at one of the concerts surfaced online, Drake took to Instagram, posting a screenshot of his DM history with Singh. In the most recent message, Drake simply wrote “You’re a goof” to the politician. Previous messages were since-deleted stories Singh had posted about Drake in the past and a message thanking Drake for the follow in 2019.
Singh posted an apology on his own Instagram story that evening. “I went for SZA not Kendrick,” he claimed. “I was born in this city, I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn’t have gone at all.”
Singh then celebrated what Drake and his label OVO have done for Toronto and Canada overall. “For me it’ll always be Drake over Kendrick,” he continued.
But seriously, Drake throwing shade at a politician for going to a concert? That’s a new one. Maybe the next election debates will have to include a round of “who’s your favorite rapper?” to really gauge where these guys stand. Honestly, I’m here for it. Let’s keep the drama coming!
