Colin Cowherd Raises Concerns Regarding Micah Parsons’ Upcoming Contract

Fans of the Dallas Cowboys recognize that the squad possesses top-tier talent, notably star pass rusher Micah Parsons and veteran quarterback Dak Prescott.

However, Cowherd, a prominent radio and television personality, recently indicated that the Cowboys find themselves “trapped” this season, constrained by a precarious framework that hinders their flexibility and opportunities for growth.

Colin Cowherd speaks about Micah Parsons’ contract

On his FOX Sports program, Cowherd contended that the significant, record-breaking contract signed by Pittsburgh Steelers T.J. Watt has established a new standard for elite defensive ends, which Micah Parsons will surely surpass.

He remarked: “If I was Micah Parsons and I was Micah Parsons’ agent I’d want 85% of T.J. Watt’s [contract]. If T.J. Watt’s getting $41 million, Micah’s gotta $37.5 or $38 [million]. He’s also four years younger,”

“The Cowboys are going to pay Dak [Prescott] top of the market, CeeDee Lamb top of the market- they already are – now they’re going to have Micah top of the market. Do I think Micah Parsons is worth that? No I don’t.”

“Jerry [Jones] has too much influence on the draft, they haven’t drafted particularly well and the Cowboys roster is top-heavy.”

Jerry’s ego feels like it’s only grown… He’s involved. I’m a football guy,”

“As they ‘struggled over the last decade relative to some of their big seasons,’ it doesn’t feel like Jerry’s gone. It doesn’t feel like I’m just gonna let Steven and Will McKay and my coach take a bigger role.”

This forthcoming cap impact will impose salary constraints on Dallas, limiting their capacity to invest in other areas and leading to long-term roster issues. If this evaluation is correct, Dallas may be reaching its limits: high-profile veteran contracts, inconsistent drafting, and an overly controlled front office. To make matters worse, Cowherd pointed out that Jerry Jones continues to influence football decisions.

He suggested that the Cowboys remain tied to the owner’s perspective, which is obstructing adaptation and accountability.
