It appears that Justin Fields will be fine after sustaining a right toe injury during the Jets’ practice on Thursday.
Following initial examinations, it was confirmed that Fields did not have a fractured toe, which would have been far more serious. Instead, he dislocated a toe on his right foot, and thankfully, it wasn’t the big toe, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Fields is anticipated to undergo an MRI and further evaluations to assess how serious the injury is.
This is reassuring news in the larger context. Furthermore, it is expected that Fields will still be able to play in the Jets’ Week 1 game against his previous team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, on September 7, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.
Jets supporters were anxious earlier on Thursday when it was reported that Fields had to be carted off the field due to an injury. Initially, it was thought to be a leg injury; however, coach Aaron Glenn clarified that it was a toe injury on his right foot.
Hopefully, the Jets will provide more details on Thursday or in the next few days to update fans on Fields’ condition.
