Rashee Rice, the top wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, received a term for his involvement in a horrifying high-speed vehicle accident. Rice has been awaiting judgment since he was engaged in a multi-car hit-and-run in Dallas during the 2024 offseason.
Following the collision, Rice was charged with eight counts: six counts of collision involving injury, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and one count of aggravated assault.
Which accusations Rice was sentenced for are unknown. Rice was given a heavy sentence by a Dallas County Judge on Thursday, ensuring that he will spend time behind bars.
ESPN’s Rashee Rice said that Rice received a sentence of 30 days in jail and five years of probation. Rice’s attorney said the jail sentence will be spread out over the course of his five-year probation.
Royce West stated: “The 30 days will be dealt with over the term of the probation over the next five years,” “Not all at once.”
Additionally, Rice was given deferred adjudication, which means the charge will be dropped if he finishes his probation. Additionally, Rice paid medical compensation to the individuals involved in the collision on Thursday, according to the wide receiver’s attorney.
It’s unclear if the three lawsuits filed by crash victims against Rice were settled concurrently with his punishment.
