Gilbert Arenas has joined the ongoing discussion about Caitlin Clark by scathingly criticizing the Indiana Fever star’s treatment by certain WNBA players, pointing out what he sees as a lack of respect.
Although the guard is renowned for her exceptional skill on the court at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse, her colleagues don’t always respect her and will often commit egregious fouls in an attempt to stop her.
She is rarely given the recognition she merits in the media for her role in propelling the league into a contemporary golden age of popularity following her selection as the 2024 Draft’s first overall pick.

Arenas claims that this was once again evident with the discrepancy between her player, media, and fan All-Star ballots, where Clark placed ninth among player votes but first among fans and third among media selections.
Gils took this seriously, and the former NBA All-Star’s disparity with the 23-year-old underscores a larger problem with the WNBA’s perspective on its most appealing new players.
During his Gil’s Arena show, Arenas spoke quite bluntly: “She, y’all eat,”. “This is what you wanted. This is what you needed. We are not watching you for your talent.
“Someone came in that everybody wants to watch, kids and everybody. Now, we can see your talents.”
He added that the public’s interest in the WNBA has changed since Clark joined the league, and that without her, TV ratings and general enthusiasm have dropped to far lower levels.
