Travis Kelce Dismisses Discussions About His Age and Retirement Talks

Travis Kelce is proving that it’s possible to maintain both longevity and peak performance in the NFL as the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gets ready for his 13th season and dismisses suggestions that he may be too old to compete.

At 35 years old, he has been speculated to retire after his current contract concludes at the end of the 2025/26 season, but both he and head coach Andy Reid assert that the seasoned player is not slowing down; rather, he’s becoming even more formidable.

Kelce remarked, a sentiment that is being supported by his preseason training performances: “I still feel like I can play it at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year,”

Reports indicate that he has displayed the same explosiveness that characterized his earlier years. This is part of the reason why 66-year-old Reid couldn’t help but commend Kelce’s physical condition, remarking, “He’s looking lean right now. He resembles a 20-year-old. He’s doing exceptionally well. He’s in fantastic shape.”

The three-time Super Bowl champion has attracted media attention for reasons beyond football, notably due to his prominent relationship with pop star Taylor Swift.

However, despite the distractions and the passage of time, his commitment to the game remains unwavering, with his offseason training resulting in a noticeable transformation as he shed excess weight for a more toned physique.

Thus, it was unsurprising that during recent drills, Kelce dazzled with a 40-yard touchdown sprint and continued to exhibit strong rapport with his long-time friend and quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
