Bill Belichick’s first victory as a college coach comes now. North Carolina overcame a poor start against TCU on Monday to defeat Charlotte 20-3 on Saturday night, earning Bill Belichick the victory No. 1 in college and No. 334 overall.
Belichick stated: “It’s great,” “but it’s really about the team. It was disappointing Monday night against TCU, but these guys bounced back — players, coaches, staff, support people — and just got back to work. They were determined to have a better outcome. I’m really proud of what they did. They deserve the credit for tonight.”
Belichick commended the team’s ability to put the performance behind and concentrate on the basics following a 48-14 thumping defeat that featured two defensive touchdowns by the Horned Frogs. North Carolina ran for 148 yards, didn’t give up the ball, and led 17-3 at the half against Charlotte.
Belichick said the decision was made in response to a New England closed-door decree, confirming those allegations on Saturday. He disclosed: “It’s obvious I’m not welcome at their facility,”, “so they’re not welcome at ours.”
Since leaving the Patriots after the 2023 season, Belichick has had a contentious divorce from New England and its owner, Robert Kraft, with several arguments breaking out in the media in recent months.
