Former baseball star Candon Dahle just got slapped with a lighter jail term for, get this, sexually assaulting an underage girl for 5 years. I mean, seriously? How does that even happen?
It’s a messed up situation for sure, but hey, at least he’s facing some consequences for his actions. It’s just crazy to think that someone who was once a role model on the field could do something so messed up off the field.
An Idaho judge is receiving significant backlash nationwide after sentencing the former BYU baseball player accused of lewd conduct with a child to jail time and probation.
The 22-year-old former BYU baseball starter pleaded guilty to lesser felony charges after he was accused of sexually assaulting a minor earlier this year.
In May, Dahle accepted a plea agreement in which he agreed to plead guilty to two lesser charges of felony injury to a child, in exchange for the prosecution agreeing to dismiss similar pending charges.
His 15-year-old accuser revealed how Candon Dahle sexually abused her from the age of 7 to 12. Dahle Dahle was in his mid-to-late teens by the time it finally stopped.
This week, Idaho Judge Steven Boyce sentenced Dahle to a minimum of five and a maximum of ten years in prison, only for Boyce to suspend the sentence and place the defendant on probation for eight years.
What makes his sentence even worse is that Dahle won’t be forced to register as a sex offender, according to EastIdahoNews.com.
Let me say this, no matter how famous or successful someone is, they’re not immune to accountability for their actions.
