Let’s talk about this wild story making headlines – apparently, Brooklyn Nets player Michael Porter Jr. splits the rent 50/50 with his girlfriend, even though he’s signed a cool $200 million deal.
Kudos to him for keeping things equal and down-to-earth. It’s kind of refreshing to hear about a big-shot athlete who’s keeping it real and not letting his wealth go to his head. Who knows, maybe it’s all part of his master plan to stay grounded financially.
Michael Porter Jr unfolded about the situation during an appearance on Justin Laboy’s “Respectfully” podcast. Laboy was surprised when Porter said he split rent despite being a millionaire.
Porter went on to explain his reason and said the girl was living above her means. He wanted to help, so he agreed to pay half the rent. Even though the couple broke up after six months, he still promised to cover half of the rent for the rest of the year.
Laboy then asked why Porter did not just pay in full considering his net worth. MPJ’s answer left people laughing and debating. “Because she needs to act right month-to-month,” Porter said.
The forward further added, “So, like, if I’m paying the remaining months, month to month, I see she’s wilding and like, bro, it’s going to be hard to continue that agreement. You feel me? That’s going to be tough because if you’re out here wilding, get that next dude to pay that rent. Okay. You feel me?”
It’s a story that has people talking. What do you think – would you still split the rent if you were rolling in dough like Michael Porter Jr.?
