Bronny James Has a Terrible Shooting Night to Start His Second Lakers Season

Bronny James is having a frigid start to his second season in the professional ranks. The Lakers lost to the Suns 103-81 on Friday night in their preseason opener, and LeBron James’ son scored eight points on a 1-for-12 shooting effort, including a 1-for-8 three-pointer.

In 24 minutes, Bronny finished with a minus-12 rating, two assists, and five rebounds. Bronny stated: “I felt like they were pretty good shots there,”

“Wasn’t rushed, wasn’t forcing anything. Didn’t have my legs under me as much as I wanted to, so a lot of them were short, but most of them were on line and I felt like I could have made those. I think I took some good shots.”

After a disappointing first season in the NBA, Bronny, who turns 21 on Monday, is getting ready for his second season.

After a disappointing year at USC, during which he recovered from a cardiac collapse, several doubted his NBA preparedness; yet, the Lakers took him with the No. 55 choice in the second round.

Although he had a poor season overall, the father-son team created history by playing together in the Laker’s season opener against the Timberwolves on October 22.

In 6.7 minutes across 27 games, Bronny averaged 2.3 points on 31.3 percent shooting, including 28.1 percent from outside the arc, and added 0.8 assists and 0.7 rebounds. For the G League team, he performed significantly better, averaging 21.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per contest.
