The altercation went viral faster and now, the man has issued a lengthy apology to Iman Shumpert.

Videos from October 22 show Shumpert being approached by a man in Indianapolis who pressed him for an interview. When the former NBA champion declined, the man continued to follow him with a camera, prompting Shumpert to stop and face him—a move that quickly ended the confrontation.
The man, identified on social media as _osamashottheflick, later posted a lengthy apology explaining his side of the story. He said he initially approached Shumpert as part of the content he creates but claimed the exchange escalated after Shumpert allegedly cursed at him and insulted the city of Indianapolis.
“I asked Iman for an interview because that’s part of the content I create,” he wrote. “I’m not sure if he was drunk or just being bold, but he yelled at me like I was lame and said, ‘F*** Indiana and F*** Naptown.’ That hurt.”
The man said his frustration and embarrassment caused him to react “in the most disrespectful way” and that, in hindsight, he should have walked away instead of letting anger take over.
“I was ready to fight an NBA champion in the middle of the street over my respect,” he admitted. “Looking back, I can admit I should’ve just walked away and enjoyed the rest of my night instead of reacting the way I did.”
He explained that his emotional response came from pride in his hometown. “I just want people who aren’t from here to know — some of us really grew up in Indianapolis,” he said, noting his deep roots in the city. “NBA champion or not, you’ve got to show love to the people who show love to you — especially when you’re a visitor.”
The post ends with a direct apology: “So if this reaches you, Iman — I apologize, sir. I hope you can understand where I was coming from.”
Lesson here? If someone says “NO,” maybe just move on. Not cool threatening someone for refusing an interview.
