Jerry Jones has finally admits stirring up controversy to get his team Cowboys in the news when things are slow.
If you’ve ever wondered why the Dallas Cowboys always seem to be in the news, the answer is finally here. Jerry Jones, the team’s billionaire owner just admitted that he likes to stir things up when business is slow. Yes, the man literally said he causes drama for fun.
In a recent interview with SiriusXM, Jerry let everyone know he stirs sh*t up!
“What you do is a little bit of my philosophy,” Jones told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith during an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio (h/t Jon Machota of The Athletic). “Controversy. I’m serious. I’m dead serious. Not serial killing. Not that. But controversy. The Dallas Cowboys probably have the kind of interest that we have in no small part because we stay out front and we stay controversial. When it gets slow, I stir that s–t up. Fact. I just want to be relevant. I just want you to be looking at us.
“Now, I don’t think that has ever kept us from scoring a touchdown. I don’t think it has kept us from having a football player. I don’t think it has ever kept us from having the financial wherewithal to get a football player.”
You can almost picture him sitting in his fancy office at AT&T Stadium, sipping coffee and thinking, Hmm, no headlines today? Time to say something wild about Dak Prescott or Micah Parsons. Next thing you know, the internet is on fire, ESPN is in full meltdown mode, and Cowboys fans are debating on X like it’s a national election.
So, while other owners are quietly managing their teams, Jerry is out here stirring the pot like it’s his personal brand to keep Cowboys in the news.
