Lane Kiffin’s post-game celebration didn’t last long after Ole Miss beat Mississippi State 38–19 in the Egg Bowl. As he headed toward the locker room, he approached reporter Ben Garrett and challenged him over a remark Garrett made on an On3 podcast. The comment referenced a lyric that labeled someone a “hoe,” and Kiffin felt the comparison targeted him directly.
As Kiffin walked off the field, he stopped and asked Garrett directly:
“You wanna walk in here and call me a hoe? We’ll see how it goes.”

Garrett later defended himself online, claiming the phrase targeted Kiffin’s “commitment” rather than him personally. The reference traces back to Ludacris’ 1999 song “Ho.”
Reporters pressed Kiffin about the confrontation during his press conference.
“When you call someone a ho, that’s a different level,” Kiffin said.
The confrontation overshadowed one of the biggest wins in program history. Ole Miss secured its first 11-win regular season and strengthened its College Football Playoff résumé. Players celebrated on the field, but the mood shifted once the clip of Kiffin’s challenge surfaced.
