Stephen A. Smith Issues a Playoff Warning to Patrick Mahomes

Fans and pundits alike had started to write off Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs following a 0-2 start to the regular season, which was preceded by one of the biggest losses in Super Bowl history. However, as we approach a crucial divisional game against the Denver Broncos in Week 11, the defending AFC Champions have a winning record just over halfway through the regular season.

Although it may seem early, Kansas City’s chances of making the postseason will probably be greatly impacted by a win or a loss given their present position and the divisional ramifications.

On the aforementioned show, ESPN’s top personality can be heard worrying about the various NFL events when he’s not busy marketing a dubious solitaire app to the general public on social media. Let’s just say that Mahomes and company are making him a little more anxious than usual.

Stephen A. Smith says that’s more than enough justification for the Super Bowl contenders to move cautiously. In the most recent episode of his YouTube podcast of the same name, Smith declared:

The Kansas City Chiefs had better win this game,” “We are 10 games in. They are 5-4… They lose this game, they are 5-5, and Denver is 9-2. It’s a wrap. You’re not going to have a shot at winning the division if you’re the Kansas City Chiefs and you lose this game… One could easily argue that this the most important regular season game of Patrick Mahomes’ career… What excuse do you have? You can not lose this game.”

Smith has every right to be worried about this game for Mahomes and company given the Broncos’ formidable defense, which is presently giving up the fifth fewest scores and the ninth fewest passing yards of any squad in the league.
