Thursday night’s Bills–Texans matchup was a challenging game for Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen, to say the least. Despite the Bills’ last-minute bid at a comeback, Houston prevailed 23–19.
Allen suffered some serious injuries throughout the competition. Eight sacks was the most he’s ever taken in a single game.
Allen was brought to the ground by six different Texans defensive players, halting offensive plays. Derek Barnett, Tim Settle Jr., Henry To’oTo’o, and Mario Edwards Jr. each earned one sack, while Will Anderson Jr. led the charge with 2.5 registered sacks, followed by Danielle Hunter’s two.

In his press conference following the game, Allen discussed the sacks. He accepted some of the responsibility for spending so much time on the field on Thursday night. He said:
“It’s not fun, I ran into a couple myself,” . “I gotta be better at throwing the ball away and living to see another down. … Too many times I was going backwards, and I gotta get better at that.”

With 33 sacks through 11 games, the Texans are tied for third place in the league with the Steelers. However, prior to Thursday night’s game, Allen had been sacked 20 times; now, he has been sacked 28 times, the fifth most of any NFL quarterback this season.
The Texans defense recorded 12 quarterback hits, 11 tackles for loss, two interceptions, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery in addition to eight sacks. The Bills’ offensive line had a difficult game.
