Future Hall of Famer Chris Paul isn’t getting a chance to ride out into the sunset with the L.A. Clippers — the organization has abruptly broke connections with the franchise great in the middle of a road trip.
CP3 delivered the stunning news himself in the middle of the night … going to Instagram to declare he “Just Found Out I’m Being Sent Home” with a peace sign emoji from Atlanta, where the club is due to play the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.

“We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team,” president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank said in a statement to ESPN. “We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on our franchise.”
With just five victories in 21 games, it is obvious that the Clippers are struggling this season. It’s not like 40-year-old Paul was putting up the same statistics he did in his prime, but the opinion is the guy deserved much better than a kick to the curb.
Paul was playing just under 15 minutes a game as a bench player … and was putting up roughly three points, three assists and two rebounds a contest.
Chris Paul and his leadership style clashed with the Clippers, sources tell ESPN. Paul has been vocal in holding management, coaches and players accountable, which the team felt became disruptive. Specifically: Ty Lue was not on speaking terms with Paul for several weeks.

It was the second go-round for Paul in the City of Angels — he was a crucial piece of the “Lob City” heyday with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan from 2011-17 … then bounced around to several organizations before the reunion this past offseason.
