Ella Mai is finally opening up about having a son with Jayson Tatum.
Ella Mai has finally said what everyone already suspected. Yes, she and NBA player Jayson Tatum have a son. And no, you don’t get pictures. Not now. Not ever. Probably.
In a recent interview, Ella opened up about their “secret” child. Secret might be dramatic. Quiet is more accurate. Very quiet. Like “you didn’t see a baby bump on Instagram” quiet.
According to Ella, keeping their son out of the public eye has not been hard at all. Which is funny, because the internet struggles to keep a secret for five minutes. Yet somehow, this one worked.
When asked about maintaining her privacy, Mai thought it has not been difficult, saying, “There are cameras everywhere, but if you’re intentional with the way that you move, it’s not that hard to not be seen.”
After taking the stage for the final stop on her Did You Miss Me? Tour tonight in Los Angeles, Mai will focus her attention on her upcoming album Do You Still Love Me?, which is scheduled to be released on Feb. 6.
Mai said, growing up, all she thought about was being an artist, casting aside the idea of marriage or children. “Even when it started to happen for me, I never saw past that,” she said. “That was my end goal.”
Mai continued, “But now, to see this new journey, and to feel this new journey, and kinda have it coincide with what I’m doing now that I’m back at work, it’s incredible.”
Fans still want photos. They always do. But Ella isn’t budging. The child is not content. The child is not a rollout. The child is just a child.
So while the world debates sneaker deals and album drops, Ella Mai and Jayson Tatum are quietly parenting off-camera. No filters. No captions. No comments section.
