On Wednesday, the L.A. Clippers played their first game following Chris Paul‘s unexpected departure. However, the home audience was thinking about the future Hall of Famer, with Atlanta Hawks fans yelling, “Where the hell is CP3?” during the game!
While Ivica Zubac stood at the free-throw line for Los Angeles, a number of Hawks supporters began to jeer. “Where’s Chris Paul?” could clearly be heard around the arena.
Fortunately for Zubac, it had little impact because he made both of his shots from the line. The Clippers’ performance was similarly unaffected by the day’s greatest news, as they defeated Atlanta 115-92.
It might make L.A.’s difficult season even more difficult if it’s a preview of things to come in other venues.
While traveling across the nation to play the Hawks, Paul announced on his Instagram Story that he “Just Found Out I’m Being Sent Home” with a peace sign emoji.
In an interview with reporters prior to the game, team president Lawrence Frank stated that the 40-year-old accepts “full responsibility” for what has happened and that they are not using him as a scapegoat in the midst of the 6-16 season.
