Mick Foley drops WWE like a hot chair all because of Donald Trump.
Mick Foley has done a lot of crazy things in his life. He’s been thrown off cages. He’s been set on fire. He’s eaten more chair shots than a folding chair factory. But cutting ties with WWE? That one actually made people stop scrolling.
Yes. Mick Foley is officially done with WWE. And no, it’s not over money. It’s not over creative. It’s not because he didn’t get a WrestleMania invite. It’s because of Donald Trump and his public relationship with WWE.
The Hall of Fame wrestler hit up his Instagram page on Tuesday, where he made the announcement, saying … “Reading the President’s incredibly cruel comments in the wake of Rob Reiner’s death is the final straw for me.”
“I no longer wish to represent a company that coddles a man so seemingly void of compassion as he marches our country towards autocracy. Last night, I informed @WWE talent relations that I would not be making any appearances for the company as long as this man remains in office.”
But according to Mick, despite cutting ties with WWE, he isn’t resigning his deal.
“Additionally, I will not be signing a new Legends deal when my current one expires in June. I love WWE, will always treasure my time with them, and I am deeply appreciative for all the opportunities they afforded me. But, in the words of Popeye the sailor, ‘I stands all I can stands, and I can’t stands no more.'”
Mick Foley didn’t turn heel. He didn’t sell out. He didn’t chase attention. He made a choice. A loud one. A messy one. A very Mick Foley one.
After everything he’s endured, it’s kind of poetic. The thing that finally made him walk away wasn’t pain. It was principle. And that might be the hardest bump he’s ever taken.
